Students Inspired by History Professor

This term we have welcomed several guest speakers into school to help raise both student’s aspirations and awareness of careers. Last week we welcomed professor James Daybell who is the professor of early modern history at Plymouth University. Professor Daybell studied at Oxford University and spoke to students about his exciting career journey which has enabled him to travel all over the world, publish many books and make several television appearances.

Year 10 history students were able to pose questions to professor Daybell about his experiences and career and gain valuable insight into the wide range of careers linked to history. He also gave students sound advice on the importance of work experience, volunteering, study, life skills and self-belief leaving them inspired. As a result of the visit professor Daybell has invited the group to join him for a history lecture at Plymouth University when they move on to the next part of the curriculum.
