Principal's UpdateDear Parents/Carers
I love this time of year, especially when you can see the impact of all the hard work and commitment from students, parents and teachers which has culminated in success. I have recently received a telephone call from a parent to thank all the teachers for their love, support and encouragement which was given to his daughter, Megan, who has just graduated from the University of Plymouth.
Megan left Sir John Hunt CSC three years ago with A Levels in law, English and sociology and she went on to study law at the University of Plymouth. She graduated this summer with a first class honours degree and she also won two prizes: the Gordon McLeish Prize for Tort Law and the Plymouth Law School Prize for best student on the European Law Option. We always believed that Megan could achieve her dreams of becoming a lawyer and we are delighted that she has made the most of every opportunity and has gone on to achieve such fabulous success.
I am so very proud of all of our young people. My advice to each and every one of them is to dream big and go for it. We will be here to direct and support students and help them to find their own pathway to success.
Year 7 students are looking forward to the overnight camp on 29th September and I cannot wait to join them for hot chocolate and marshmallows around the camp fire.
During October half-term, we will be running our programme of master classes and I do hope that Year 11 students will take advantage of the opportunity to polish their understanding and prepare for the summer examinations.
Next month, we will have our Careers Fair on 17th October, starting at 3pm. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to start thinking about career pathways and we hope that parents and carers will also be able to join us for this important event. I look forward to meeting you at the Careers Fair.
