Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

This term all our outdoor and adventurous activities continue, with fi ngers crossed for good weather for Bikeability and lunchtime games. Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes there will be games to play outside. Those who show commitment, attend often, play the games by the rules and basically have a fun and healthy lunchtime break, will be given a sticker in their planners. This sticker will be their ticket into the tipi for free hot chocolate at lunchtime on the 8th February!

Luckily we don’t need sunny weather to go climbing at The Life Centre, come along every Thursday after school from 3:05pm to 5:45pm. It costs £5 per session which is a massive saving on what it would cost if you went along out of school to the Rock Club, which costs £13.65 per visit! This term we will be concentrating on building more technique for safe climbing, so we can allow the students more freedom of choice on the wall.

Bike maintenance

Bike maintenance continues every Wednesday evening from 3:05pm to 4:30pm. The students are well on their way to completing their projects, with visits to bike recycling places and Bikespace in the pipeline. Many Duke of Edinburgh Bronze year 9 students will soon start Bike Maintenance club in order to fulfill their volunteering section requirements. We will be working on staff and student bikes that need some attention and also on a short project to help children from Beechwood Primary School with their broken bikes. The more bikes we fix, increases the potential to reduce the amount of cars on the roads which makes our community safer and cleaner.
