Graduate Speaks About Government Role

Last week the College welcomed back a former student who came to talk to our Sixth Form about his exciting journey since leaving Sir John Hunt in 1997. Neil Johnson is now the Deputy Director for the EU & International Affairs Division.

Neil is a Policy Official in central Government with significant experience of leading teams on high profile and controversial projects. He specialises in policy development, advising ministers and senior offi cials, international and EU negotiations, dragging legislation and tax law. Working with government officials Neil is now involved in the Brexit negotiations.

During his talk Neil told the students of his experiences in government along with school life and his thoughts and feelings about his career when he was in Sixth Form. He also spoke of the graduate and apprenticeship opportunities available within the Civil Service. He has now kindly off ered to mentor three students and help them with their journey and will be returning for another visit in March.
