Fantastic Success at Plymouth School Games

Fantastic Success at Plymouth School Games

On Wednesday 29th March thirty five students from Year 7 took part in the first ever Plymouth School Games. The event consisted of four inclusive events: mini tennis, new age kurling, seated volleyball and archery. None of the students had ever taken part in seated volleyball or new age kurling so a new experience was had by all. After a short introduction from Mr Chatfield from the Plymouth School Sports Partnership the teams went off to their events, where they received coaching from UCP Marjons students and leaders, before taking part in a round robin competition. Students from schools across Plymouth attended the event, Sir John Hunt fielded three teams in kurling, two in tennis, two in archery and two in seated volleyball.

After a morning of competition the winners were announced and Sir John Hunt had won in all four events! This now means that we go through to the level 3 (County Level) games in April at the Life Centre. Well done to every student that took part, they represented the College impeccably and performed with sportsmanship and commitment.
