Spectroscopy In A Suitcase

Spectroscopy In A Suitcase

Year 12 BTEC Applied Science students were amazed with the £10,000 of spectroscopy equipment that arrived in a suitcase courtesy of the Analytical Chemists at Plymouth University. They spent the morning with the students and Mr Flage analysing the light given off by a variety of mystery chemicals which could therefore be identified according to the emission spectrum of the chemical. This technical skill is vital in so many scientific areas from forensic science to marine chemistry to space science.
