Year 7 Football

Daisy, Summer, Megan, Chloe, Hermione and Izzy Stone went to Plymstock School on Wednesday evening to play their first ever match. Despite being a player down, the girls tenacity and enthusiasm never faltered. Daisy Bone, who was also captain, showed great skill in the midfield, sending a number of good deliveries to our striker. However despite trying desperately hard and having a few near misses, Hermione was unable to hit the target.

Megan swapped with Izzy in the second half to play in goal and made a number of outstanding saves. Izzy came away with some war wounds after a number of strong and brave tackles. The girls unfortunately lost to Tor Bridge High, but did defeat DHSG!

Well done!

Badminton Fixture

Boys U16 Plymouth Badminton Fixtures

Four of our students travelled to Plymstock to take part in the Plymouth Schools Badminton League. The fixtures took place on two evenings at the beginning of November.

Jared Dixon, Toby Edwards, Cody Jones and Leo Wondzinski all competed in a mixture of singles and doubles matches. The schools that were in our league were Plymstock ‘A’, Plymstock ‘B’, DHSB and Lipson.

The standard of badminton was excellent with some students looking to play at a county level. The boys came into the fixtures having had some training but were impressed with the level of badminton with a couple of players from DHSB and Plymstock catching the eye.

Overall we played some good badminton but lacked power to push our opponents to the back of the court to open up attacking options. Jared and Cody both impressed in their singles matches, whilst Toby and Leo seemed better suited to the doubles. We eventually finished bottom of the league table. However their effort and determination to take points off some very talented players was something to carry forward into next year’s fixtures.

Year 1 Multi-Skills

On Wednesday 11th November seventy-four Year 1 students from 3 primary schools attended the first Multi-Skills Festival of the year. They took part in a carousel of activities run by the Year 9 leadership academy and Mrs Skelton’s Year 13 students.

Feedback from the schools and students was excellent with the Headteacher from Woodfield saying that her staff "thought the event was great and that the leaders were excellent".

The leadership academy will now run a Year 2 competition on Wednesday 25th November.

Table Tennis Club

This term sees the start of the table tennis club on a Tuesday after school in the drama room. We are teaching this in the curriculum this term and this has helped to boost the numbers. Students from all year groups attended and took part in a tournament which saw Lauren Ranford hit her way to the top of the leader board.

There is always room for more so please promote within your tutor groups.
