Sir John Hunt Students Have Their SayLast week students in Years 7–11 held assemblies and debates on issues which are important to them. In a drive to get students engaged with politics, democracy and decision making, a week of tutor times was devoted to the "Make Your Mark" initiative, whereby young people get the chance to set the agenda for the Youth Parliament sitting later in the school year. The issues debated ranged from a living wage for young people, to better investment in transport and mental health. The students were supported by outside visitors from the youth service and even an assembly by Plymouth’s own member of the Youth Parliament.
I can’t wait to see what our student body decides on, results will be communicated to you all next week.
