Skills AidTen Year 10 students have been selected to take part in this year’s Skills Aid project. During the course of the next 12 months they will visit various companies and learn more about the many roles within each industry, as well as work on developing their employability skills.
The first trip was to Plymouth Argyle where students were treated to a behind the scenes tour and the chance to meet the team captain. They were able to see the vast amount of jobs linked to the football industry and open their minds about different types of careers that they perhaps hadn’t thought of. Additional to this they took part in a team building challenge where they took on the role of Manager, Coach, Press Officer and Director. This involved holding a press conference which helped to develop their communication, presentation and team building skills.
The next trip will be to Dartmoor Zoo in October where they will be learning about Enterprise and Business Planning.
