Lead Learners' DayOn Monday 13th June 260 Year 5 students from 6 primary schools came to Sir John Hunt to take part in the annual Lead Learner’s Day. 58 Year 9s had been trained to lead sessions in 5 curriculum areas; maths and PE, science, art and Spanish. During the day the Year 5s were split into 21 different countries, each country was made up of students from different schools. They worked in a rotation to experience all the areas, including a forensic investigation in science.
The 58 Year 9s led the session, overseen by our staff; Mr Salter, Miss Wilkes, Miss Nicholas, Mr Gardiner, Mr Waite, Miss Burns and Miss Harris, who all spent time planning their sessions in incredible detail, which made the day run incredibly smoothly.
All of the Year 5s loved their time at the College and the staff who accompanied them couldn’t praise our students and staff enough. Widewell Primary Academy said, "The children absolutely loved their day, they really enjoyed every subject.
It was really well organised and we cannot wait for next year!" I cannot praise the Year 9 students enough, they gave 100% throughout the day and were able to motivate and engage the children throughout.
Roll on next year!
