Radio 1 Academy Visits SJH Sixth Form

On Friday 6th May, special guests from Radio 1 visited Sir John Hunt Sixth Form to promote their Radio 1 Academy which is taking place in the county this month. Our Sixth Formers along with students from one of our partner schools, All Saints Academy Plymouth, were offered the opportunity to attend a series of workshops and events along with a range of volunteer schemes, placements and roles. The Radio 1 team have been touring around Devon over the last week with Sir John Hunt and Tor Bridge High lucky enough to be two of just nine schools visited. These in-school sessions were aimed at any students considering a career in a creative or media based industry and our guests included BBC Introducing presenter James Santer and BBC Radio 1 team assistant Oliver Owens who talked to students about their own journeys into their radio careers.

If students/parents would like any more information they should go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/academy or students can talk to their tutors or the Sixth Form team.

(Head of Sixth Form)
