Sixth Form: Okehampton v SJH

The Sir John Hunt BTEC Sport students played in the semi-final of the league cup against bitter rivals Okehampton.

The following match report was written by Sixth Form student Logan Adams.

Okehampton 4-4 Sir John Hunt

Both teams came into this game with a strong squad and full of confidence. Everyone was ready to show what they could offer to the other teams in the cup.

The travelling Sir John Hunt took an early lead through Reece Brown, scoring past the on-rushing goalkeeper. SJH went 2-0 up through Ashley Marker scoring from the edge of the box, into the bottom right-hand corner. A fantastic start was dented when Okehampton got a goal back from a close range finish – 2-1. Just before the break SJH made it 3-1 through Reece Brown, again getting his second of the match dinking it over the keeper. 3-1 to Sir John Hunt at the break.

Sir John Hunt in the second half were not the same side and quickly conceded 3 goals without reply, making it 4-3 to Okehampton. With 2 minutes remaining Reece Brown completed his hat-trick, playing a 1-2 with Owen Aqulina. It was 4-4 at full time.

The cup game then went to a penalty shootout, with Okehampton winning 6-5 on penalties.

Going into next season the team will need to focus on game management.
