Plymouth Argyle Futsal Programme Starts at Sixth Form

The Sixth Form’s newest course got off to a successful start this week with its partnership between Sir John Hunt Community Sports College and Plymouth Argyle.

Students have this week settled into their course meeting the Argyle staff and having tours of Home Park stadium. The students will study the theory behind sport in units such as anatomy and physiology, talent identification and development in sport. Alongside their theory lessons there are numerous practical opportunities and they have been entered into the local futsal league and an 11 a-side satellite league, playing against schools such as Ivybridge, Okehampton, Wadebridge and Redruth. If selected students can be involved in the futsal first team squad and play against clubs such as Southampton F.C.

The course offers opportunities to gain extra qualifications such as coaching, officiating and first aid that will enrich their profiles when looking at options beyond Sixth Form. Students will be looking at employment routes with links available through Plymouth Argyle or onto higher education studying degree courses within the sport sector.
