Extra–Curricular ActivitiesWe place strong emphasis on the role of extra-curricular activities in helping to develop the whole personality of each student. There is a flourishing and varied programme of activities at lunchtime, and many more clubs and activities after College. In previous years students have taken part in educational visits to various European countries. Once a year a party goes skiing in Europe. We also hold regular concerts and productions.
Our current list of extra-curricular activities is wide and varied, and includes: Hockey, Fitness, Rugby, Badminton, Basketball, Music, Careers, Dance, ICT, Skiing, Model-making, Cross Country, Cricket, Climbing, Soccer, Tennis, Cookery, Golf, Boxing, Yoga, Running, Horse Riding, Rock School and Japanese Drumming. There are also subject-related clubs for Key Stage 3 students and revision classes for Key Stage 4 students in Session 7 after College. A residential experience is offered to all students in Years 7 – 9 where students are able to sample a range of outdoor and adventurous activities. At the start of the academic year every student is given a booklet listing the activities on offer.
We run a selection of holiday and after school activities, both academic and sporting, through the Extended Schools programme. These are sometimes targeted at particular groups of students and sometimes open to all. Examples in the past year have included revision classes for GCSE students in the Easter holiday and a Gifted and Talented Summer School for 9 – 13 year olds who are good at sport.
